Review policy

This is a personal blog containing my personal opinions about the books I read.

I am not paid to write these reviews, though sometimes I am given books by authors or publishers – I put information about where a book came from at the top of a review (on the rare occasions I am paid to write a review, I state that clearly). I prefer to be positive in a review, but if there is something I don’t like I will point it out, though I always aim to be constructive in my criticism. Mostly whether we like a book or not is down to personal taste, please remember that if you disagree with my review and are writing a comment. I don’t use star ratings on my blog – anything that gets reviewed here is, in my opinion, worth reading; I’ll try and articulate in the review why I think you should read it too.

If you are an author or publisher and would like to send me a book for review, including as part of a blog tour, get in touch – email: thecrimebookgirl@gmail.com or Twitter: @crimebookgrrl. Please note that I only read crime and thrillers (including historical), and if at all possible I prefer physical copies (I will never sell a proof copy, any book I don’t keep will be given away or go to charity). If you want a review to appear at a particular time, I’m happy to discuss that, as well as sharing links on social media, Amazon and GoodReads. If I don’t like the book, I will not post a review here, and I will get in touch with you to inform you of that. If you want to use a quote from my review for any publicity purposes, please ask permission, I retain copyright of my words!
